MANA de Orange County, a Latina advocacy and leadership organization, will hold its eighth annual Community Tamalada on Saturday, Dec. 15.
It takes place at the Bowers Kidseum, 1802 N. Main St., Santa Ana.
Cost is $20 per person, which includes a Christmas Mercado, orange juice and Mexican pasties, tamale-making lessons and a dozen tamales to take home, ready to cook. Bring an apron and a hair tie. Participants must be in good health and at least 12 years of age.
Proceeds will benefit MANA’s community work, which includes leadership programs for girls.
Breakfast will be served beginning at 9:30 a.m., with tamale lessons starting at 11 a.m.
The Christmas Mercado, with vendors providing a variety of handmade items, take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and helps support community organizations. RSVP By Dec. 13 at nelliek@roadrunner.com.
